Skolithos

South East Devon

The famous red cliffs of glorious Devon provide the material for this course as you look at Upper Carboniferous, Permian and Triassic sections between Torbay and Sidmouth. In addition to these spectacular aeolian, fluvial and lacustrine deposits we can also visit the Jurassic coast at Lyme Regis and see the Cretaceous unconformity with associated shelf sands in Beer. The rotated and truncated fault blocks with Triassic sands, capped by Cretaceous carbonates, can be appreciated on a boat trip from here. This course works well as an analogue for fields with Permo Triassic continental reservoirs. Courses with a team building focus can have more emphasis placed on the heritage coast.
